This film follows the most unlikely people to become Getu River’s ‘Spiderman’ and ‘Spiderwoman’: Huang Xiao Bao with a chronic limp, and Luo Deng Ping – the first woman to take on a tradition originally only passed down to men. It is a thrilling spectacle of scaling great heights without any harnesses or ropes, just like the superhero, Spiderman. But more importantly, the two are also the torchbearers of a meaningful tradition, and wield a connection with nature unique to the ‘Spider(wo)men’.
