On her last day in the village of Che Bei in southern China, someone decides to walk one last time in the neighborhood. On the way, she visits the Ancestral Hall of the Su family, meets the heir of the Su Clan and a worker from another province. They tell their own experiences and enrich her own views of the place. Che Bei and the Ancestral Hall are the starting points that the film uses to trigger this journey of discovery about the meaning of Home, family and migration.
Our character relates with the space and questions her own existence, reflecting on the images and interfering on them. A docufiction with real footage and 3D animation that ties the themes together. Reflecting on belonging and ancestrality is the main drive of Goodbye Che Bei.
